Confidence first, physical skills last
Mile High Karate Thornton teaches bully prevention to children at 3979 E 120th Avenue in Thornton, Colorado. Children learn to recognize bullying, avoid it where they can, respond with confidence, and get help from adults. Physical self-defense is the last resort, not the first.
Most bullying stops at a child who looks and sounds confident. Bully prevention lessons teach children to stand tall, make eye contact, use a strong, clear voice and set boundaries. They practice what to say, when to walk away and which adults to tell.
Children also learn awareness and safety habits for school and for the street, and the practical self-defense skills to protect themselves if they have no other choice. They are taught that their skills are for self-defense only.
Bully prevention is built into kids karate classes, so the lessons are practiced every week, not just once.
