Focus, confidence and respect, one belt at a time

Mile High Karate Thornton teaches karate to children ages 4–6 and 7–12 at 3979 E 120th Avenue in Thornton, Colorado. Children learn kicks, strikes, forms and self-defense, and every class includes a character lesson on habits such as focus, respect and self-discipline.

Younger and older children train in separate classes so each group learns at the right pace. Four- to six-year-olds work on listening, balance and coordination through short, active drills. Seven- to twelve-year-olds build stronger technique, forms and controlled sparring with padded safety equipment.

Each child works through a clear sequence of goals, from the first stripe to the Black Belt, which takes about 48 months of consistent training. Reaching each goal in front of classmates and parents is how confidence is built.

Two classes a week is the standard recommendation. Families come from Thornton, Northglenn, Brighton, Westminster and across the north Denver metro.
